Sacramental Preparation
Baptism
St. Albert the Great Church offers the Sacrament of Baptism for infants and children under the age of 7 every month. At least one parent/guardian needs to be a Baptized and Confirmed Catholic and must be a registered member of our parish. We ask that the parents attend our Baptism Preparation Class which includes a rehearsal (free babysitting in the nursery is provided with RSVP). Sponsors, or Godparents, are to be at least 16 years of age and a Confirmed, practicing Catholic. If a Godparent is not a member of St. Albert, a letter of good standing from their parish is needed.

The Sacrament of Baptism for older children and adults takes place through the OCIA program. Please contact Fylnn Mudd at 502-425-3940 ext 109 for more information.

Confirmation
Confirmation is the Sacrament that completes the grace we receive in Baptism. It seals, or confirms, this grace through the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit that we receive as part of Confirmation. This Sacrament also makes us better able to participate in the worship and apostolic life of the Church. Like Baptism, Confirmation is received only once in a person’s life.

First Communion
At St. Albert, children are generally prepared to celebrate 1st Communion in the Fall of 2nd grade. Children preparing for the Sacrament engage in a process of study, prayer, and activities which invite them to explore the many meanings of Eucharist. Children will learn about the celebration of the Mass in order to participate in it in a meaningful and reverent manner.

First Reconciliation
At St. Albert the Great children are prepared to celebrate Reconciliation in the spring of 1st Grade. The children engage in a process of study, prayer, and activities which invite them to understand ways in which our unloving thoughts and actions (sins) hurt our relationship with God and others. They will learn how God ‘s unconditional love offers us forgiveness through the sacrament of Reconciliation.
