Health and Wellness Screening Set for June 26thPosted June 06, 2010St. Albert the Great is hosting a community-wide health and wellness screening day on Saturday, June 26th in Visitation Hall.
Life Line Screening will be at St. Albert on Saturday, June 26th to offer vascular disease screening tests. The ultrasound will be used to screen for Stroke/Carotid Artery; Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm; Peripheral Artery Disease (hardening of the artery); and Osteoporosis. Offered by appointment, the tests are painless and non-invasive and are conducted without the use of x-rays, needles or the need to disrobe. The cost is reduced to less than $50 each test for a total cost of $129 for all four life-saving tests. In addition to the screenings, a five-year disease risk assessment will be offered. This assessment will show an individual's percentage risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and lung cancer as well as cholesterol and blood sugar levels. The personalized report indicates risk factors and what changes can be made for the greatest improvement. Those who should consider these tests are those with the following risk factors:
